Our club is powered by volunteers who keep the shop running, maintain our tools, and source materials.
We are also passionate about giving back to the town of Wasaga Beach, local organizations, and the province through a wide range of community projects. You'll find our handiwork all around town.
For decades Club members have worked on community projects. Every Monday and Wednesday 12:30 – 2:30 we design and fabricate items for our community. Afterwards members meet for coffee and conversation at one of our local restaurants.
For over Twenty years, one of the most important annual volunteer projects is to entertain and introduce children to woodworking at Wasaga Snow Mania, Spring Fest and Fall Fest. Whenever the town has an event, we set up our workshop and invite children under the age of 16 to fasten together a bird house, a bird feeder, a bunny boot, a tote or a piggy bank. We raise money to fund the wood and volunteer our time to cut out the pieces. In doing so, we see the joy of woodworking in the eyes of young boys and girls who work diligently to construct their project. They always leave the makeshift workshop with a big smile and a sense of accomplishment. To date we estimate that children have created 10,000 projects at the events.
Other impactful projects have included building a cat run for an animal shelter, building bat houses for the local Provincial Park, constructing raised garden boxes for the community gardens, creating and installing charming little free libraries throughout the town, crafting miniature replicas of the Nancy boat for children to assemble at the annual Provincial Park picnic, turning Wig Stands for cancer patients, building an inviting bench for the town library, etc. See our community projects below.
