New Shop Workbench

Oct 3
1 min read

On Saturday October 2, Peter, Dave La, and Ross started the final leveling of our new workbench. Peter crafted the sled, which is used to plane large pieces of wood. The router sits in the sled and is moved across the workbench to achieve a smooth surface. It took about 6 or 7 passes to get the top of our new workbench to top deadflat. This is no easy feat considering that the tabletop consists of a dozen hardwood slats that were cut, planed individually and laminated together over the past couple of months on community days. One more side to go—and good riddance to our rickety, uneven old worktable!
